DO UT DES

Do ut des, not just a latin saying but also three names of music notes in different european languages. C, C and D flat is the theme of the main track of the next ABQ's project that is inspired to the ancient music and in particular to the gregorian chant. The tracks come from the ancient gregorian melodies but are treated with a collective freedom. Sometimes it may seem hidden, just mentioned or even used as source of inspiration but the atmosphere of this fascinating ancient music is unmistakable. The music, as in the western classical tradition, is mainly written but also provides ample space for both individual and collective improvisation, resulting in a paradox that eases the listening experience but holds within it a complicated execution summed up in an instrumental mix of unusual timbres characterized by irregular rhythms and contrapuntal developments of the melodic lines. A personal representation of music today starting from the origin of western musical tradition.
